Amisi: Every president will be serving one term unless they perform

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi on Saturday, July 12, 2025, made a bold declaration regarding the country’s presidency.
In a statement, the legislator who was elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket argued that it was time for the country to normalise sending home presidents after their first term.
The lawmaker maintained that the ingrained tendency that every president should serve for two terms should not be entertained further in the country.
Amisi urged Kenyans to start vetting the presidents based on what they deliver versus what they promised.
“Every president in Kenya will be serving one term unless he performs. We are going to make it a history,” Amisi shared in a post on X while advocating for a systematic political shift in Kenya.
Rants won’t save Ruto
At the same time, the youthful MP warned close allies of President William Ruto, asking them to tone down their rhetoric and angry rants.
The Saboti MP told Ruto’s lieutenants that their public rants would not save Ruto from what is awaiting him in 2027.
“What you say and do between now and 2027 are kicks of a dying horse,” Amisi reiterated.

Plea to Raila
His bold statement came a day after he sent a message to his party leader, Raila Odinga, asking to cut ties with President Ruto.
Caleb Amisi accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of betraying the ideals of the Orange party and compromising the legacy Raila has built over decades.
“Dear Baba @RailaOdinga, my party leader of @TheODMparty, you know my respect to you is unmatched, and it is premised on the reason that you have a history for fighting for a lot that Kenya enjoys today. You are not perfect; no one is. Since it is broad-based, I have been lonely in the trenches, where you guys left me. I have been shooting in the wilderness aimlessly and all allover to scare the approaching enemies and sometimes shooting you in the foot,” Amisi stated in a statement on Friday, July 11, 2025.
