Gor Mahia captain talks title chances despite dropping points against AFC Leopards

Gor Mahia assistant captain Geoffrey Ochieng has revealed their deep determination to win the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title despite dropping points against AFC Leopards.
Ingwe held Gor Mahia to a 0-0 draw on Sunday, and the result means K’Ogalo are five points below the league leaders, Kenya Police. Tusker in second place have four points.
With 10 games remaining in the season, Simiti, as Ochieng is popularly known, is confident of their chances of winning the title again and securing a spot in continental football.
“We are still in the title race and are aiming at nothing short of the league title. When you join Gor Mahia, the aim is clear: to play continental football, and you cannot play there if you do not win the league,” Ochieng, who captained his side on Sunday, said as quoted by a local publication.
“We always come to the stadium looking for three points, but when we get one, we take it in our stride because it is better than losing a match. We will keep fighting; at least we didn’t lose the bragging rights.
“I was so happy to see fans throng the stadium, and it was full to capacity. I want to urge fans to keep attending matches, not only for Gor and AFC matches but also for all league teams. It gives players morale and boosts our league,” he added.
After the draw, AFC Leopards are fifth with 37 points.
