Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has called on Kenyans to show up in large numbers and passionately support the Harambee Stars as they face Seychelles in a World Cup Qualifier clash at Kasarani Stadium.

In a statement released ahead of the match on the official X account for FKF president Hussein Mohammed on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Mohammed urged fans to create an atmosphere that would lift the national team as they seek to secure crucial points on home soil.

“Today we host Seychelles in a World Cup Qualifier at Kasarani. Gates open at 11 am. I urge all fans to arrive early, support ⁦Harambee Stars⁩ passionately and responsibly, and let’s create an atmosphere worthy of our team,” he said.

The FKF President’s rallying call comes as Kenya continues its World Cup qualifying campaign, with the Seychelles match seen as a vital fixture in the Harambee Stars’ journey.

Fans are expected to turn Kasarani into a fortress of support, echoing national pride and belief in the team’s ability to deliver.

Gambia’s setback

The call comes at a decisive moment for the Harambee Stars, who suffered a setback in their last match after losing 3 goals to 1 against Gambia in the qualifiers.

That defeat left the team with mounting pressure to recover and keep their World Cup dream alive. The Seychelles clash is therefore not just another fixture, but a must-win encounter that could determine Kenya’s momentum in the campaign.

His appeal to fans highlights the importance of not just filling the stadium, but also creating the kind of energy that players can feed off during the match. The emphasis on responsible and passionate support underscores FKF’s desire for football to unite Kenyans in celebration, while maintaining order and respect within the stands.

Mohammed’s statement comes at a time when the national team has been under pressure to make significant progress in the qualifiers. The encounter against Seychelles provides an opportunity for Harambee Stars to showcase resilience, tactical strength, and home advantage in front of their supporters.

By urging early arrival, the FKF leadership is also keen to ensure smooth access to the stadium and avoid last-minute congestion that has, in the past, dampened matchday experiences for fans. Gates at Kasarani were scheduled to open at 11 am, giving fans ample time to take their seats before kick-off.

The FKF has repeatedly stressed the role of supporters in boosting the morale of Harambee Stars players. Mohammed’s call to create an “atmosphere worthy of our team” reinforces the belief that football is not just a game on the pitch, but also an event shaped by the spirit and energy of fans.

As Harambee Stars prepare to face Seychelles, the weight of expectation rests not only on the players and coaching staff but also on Kenyans who will gather at Kasarani. The hope is that a united show of support can inspire the national team to deliver a result that strengthens their path in the World Cup qualification campaign.
