FKF in talks with brands to rebuild trust and boost football sponsorships
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has taken a major step toward restoring confidence in the country’s football by engaging top brands and stakeholders in new sponsorship talks.
Speaking after attending the Technical Committee on Sponsorship and Commercial Development meeting on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, hosted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hussein said the discussions were aimed at building a stronger and more transparent foundation for football investment.

He noted that the meeting brought together key representatives from some of Kenya’s biggest corporate players, a sign of renewed interest in supporting local football.
“Earlier today, I joined stakeholders at the Technical Committee on Sponsorship & Commercial Development meeting, hosted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, and attended by representatives from top brands,” he said.
The FKF President said the committee’s role was crucial in shaping how football in Kenya attracts, manages, and protects sponsorships across its leagues and talent development programs.
“This Committee is central to how we attract, manage, and protect investment into FKF’s leagues, competitions, and talent development programmes,” Hussein said.

For years, Kenyan football has struggled with inconsistent funding and limited corporate partnerships, leading to delayed player payments, poor infrastructure, and declining morale among fans. Hussein’s latest move signals a deliberate effort to change that narrative by restoring integrity and accountability within the sport’s management.
He emphasised that the ultimate goal is to create a football industry that works for everyone, players, fans, sponsors, and investors alike.
“The goal is clear – to create a football ecosystem that rewards investment, guarantees value for sponsors, and upholds the highest governance standards,” he said.

Hussein reiterated his commitment to ensuring the success of the initiative, saying that the new partnerships would not only help develop local talent but also strengthen the league’s competitiveness.
“I am fully committed to ensuring this initiative succeeds and delivers the change our game urgently needs,” he added.
The meeting marks a turning point for Kenyan football, with stakeholders hoping it will pave the way for sustainable growth and renewed confidence in the sport’s leadership.
