FKF launches oversight team to build football credibility and woo investors
Kenya’s football revival has taken a bold new turn with the launch of a high-powered Football Oversight Committee, a move Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed says will bring accountability, transparency, and renewed investor confidence to the game.
In a statement shared on his official X on Monday, November 3, 2025, Hussein described the formation of the committee as a major milestone in transforming the country’s football landscape.
“Kenyan football’s transformation depends on strong partnerships, accountability, and sustainable investment,” he said, emphasising on the Federation’s commitment to rebuild trust and restore credibility within the sport.

The new oversight body, he explained, is composed of chief executives from some of Kenya’s leading public and private-sector organisations.
“Today marked an important step as the Football Oversight Committee, comprising CEOs from leading public and private sector organisations, formally began its work,” Hussein noted.

According to the FKF President, the committee will play a crucial role in reshaping how football is managed, ensuring transparency and financial discipline while also providing confidence to corporate sponsors.
“This Committee will play a key role in ensuring transparency, sound governance, and measurable value for sponsors, while strengthening the financial sustainability of our leagues, competitions, and talent development programmes,” he said.
Hussein emphasised that the Federation’s collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports is central to achieving these goals.
“Working together with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports, we are reinforcing football’s credibility as a platform for investment and opportunity across Kenya,” he added.

The move comes at a time when Kenyan football is working to rebuild after years of administrative wrangles, financial challenges, and lost sponsorships.
By bringing together experienced leaders from different sectors, FKF hopes to create a professional environment that attracts sustainable investment and supports player development from the grassroots to the top leagues.

For many fans and stakeholders, this marks a new beginning, one that promises a more accountable and commercially vibrant football industry that can once again inspire national pride.
