Fans’ excitement builds as Gor Mahia gear up for brand-new club bus
Gor Mahia will officially start using their new state-of-the-art team bus when they face Murang’a Seal FC in an FKF Premier League fixture at Kasarani Stadium this Saturday.
According to Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier, the 42-seater bus, donated by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo, will transport the players for the first time during the upcoming match. Prior to the game, Owalo will ceremoniously hand over the bus to Gor Mahia.
“We extend our gratitude to the Eliud Owalo Foundation for their generous donation of the 42-seater Isuzu team bus, expertly crafted by master bodybuilders,” Rachier shared with reporters yesterday.
“Originally designed as a 62-seater, we modified it for the comfort of the players during long journeys, opting for 42 seats, including five first and business-class seats behind the driver.”
Rachier also confirmed that the bus has already been registered with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), stating, “The fully paid and custom bus is registered under KDN 068, with the significant number 68 symbolizing the founding year of our esteemed club. It will be officially inaugurated by Owalo before our match against Murang’a at Kasarani.”
Gor Mahia has faced transportation challenges after losing their previous bus due to a legal dispute filed by former player Wellington Ochieng, who sought outstanding salary and allowances. Ochieng’s successful case led to the auctioning of the bus to settle his dues.
While Owalo was absent at the event, the enthusiastic cabinet secretary, known for his unwavering support for the FKF Premier League champions, celebrated the completion of the bus on his social media platforms, hailing it as “a mighty bus for a mighty team.”
His announcement was met with praise from K’Ogalo fans on social media, with Dominick Ouma expressing, “Waziri has been supporting Gor Mahia all along, thanks for getting the team a new bus,” while Kevin Lumumba commended, “Indeed, it is a great job; keep up the good work,” and Hillary Steve Wuod Mwalimu stated, “Thank you for fulfilling your promise to K’Ogalo.”
Gor Mahia currently holds the second position in the 18-team table, tallying 20 points from 10 matches, trailing leaders Posta Rangers by a single point. With five wins and five draws, they remain the only unbeaten side in the top-flight.
