The 2025 Enterprise Cup final is set to be an electrifying climax to the Rugby 15s season as Kabras Sugar and Menengai Oilers lock horns at the ASK Showground in Nakuru on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

This will mark the competition’s return to the lakeside town for the first time since 1964.

On March 15, 2025, Kabras Sugar, the defending champions and unbeaten in the Enterprise Cup competition since 2018, booked their place in the final after a tense 25-21 win over rivals KCB in Kakamega, as Oilers displayed ruthless efficiency in their semi-final clash, dismantling Nondescripts 41-10 in Nakuru.

Rivalry intensifies

This year’s final writes the latest chapter in what has become one of Kenya’s most gripping rugby rivalries.

Just a fortnight ago, Kabras narrowly defeated Oilers 27-26 to claim their fourth consecutive Kenya Cup title in Kakamega.

However, Oilers responded emphatically last weekend, blanking Kabras 15-0 to lift the Great Rift 10-aside tournament trophy.

Sibling clash

Adding an extra layer of intrigue to the 86th Enterprise Cup final is the behind-the-scenes battle between brothers.

Kabras is sponsored by West Kenya Sugar, led by Tejveer Rai, while Oilers are backed by Menengai Oil under the stewardship of his younger brother, Onkar Rai.

The clash dubbed ‘Rai Derby’ brings a unique subplot of family dimension to one of the season’s biggest showdowns.

Shot at history

First contested in 1930, the Enterprise Cup is Kenya’s oldest and most prestigious club rugby competition.

Nondescripts RFC lead the all-time honours list with 25 titles, while Impala RFC and Kenya Harlequins follow closely with 11 titles apiece.

For Kabras, a fifth Enterprise Cup title would further cement their growing legacy as a powerhouse of Kenyan rugby.

Meanwhile, a win for the Oilers would see them join an elite group as only the 19th side to hoist the historic trophy in the tournament’s 95-year history.
