Double luck as Njoroge wins Nakuru, Njoro tournaments

Handicap 28, Sammy Njoroge had an amazing round at the scenic Nakuru Golf Club where he won the SBM Golf  Day tournament overall title with a sterling score of 48 stableford points.

Despite being new to the game, Njoroge showcased impressive talent and skill as he navigated the hilly course and went on to win the main title authoritatively.

He was followed closely by Murtaza Mussaji, who claimed the Men winner title with a score of 40 stableford points, while Francis Kioni secured the Men winner second position with a solid score of 39 stableford points.

In the Ladies’ category, Emma Pennington stood out as the Division One Lady Winner, completing the course with a score of 31 stableford points. Eleanor Wambui gave a commendable performance as the Runners-Up, finishing with a score of 26 stableford points.

Moving to Division Two, Gerald Kamau took the title of Men Winner with a commanding score of 45 stableford points, closely followed by Amos Otara in second place with a score of 40 stableford. Among the ladies, Alice Kirubi triumphed with 39 stableford points, while Florence Wafula finished as the Lady winner second with 38 stableford points. Lastly, the Gross Winner title went to Father Augustine Kipkemei, who achieved an impressive score of 35 stableford points, showcasing his exceptional skill on the greens.

After the Nakuru outing, Njoroge headed to Njoro Country Club for the Lady Captain Catherine Oosterwijk 2025 prize, where again he had a superb outing and was declared the overall winner.

Home player Samwel Njoroge expertly capitalised on his familiarity with the local course, delivering an impressive score to triumph and win the Njoro Country Club Lady Captain Catherine Oosterwijk prize. 

This thrilling event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Diamond Trust Bank (DTB). Njoroge, competing fiercely off a handicap of 31, raised the bar with a spectacular score of 44 stableford points, a celebration of

Oosterwijk’s captaincy, who first served as the Lady Captain in 1992. 

In a nail-biting finish, Rose Muthoni, playing off a handicap of 37, captured the overall second winner prize with a score of 38 stableford points, narrowly edging out Nicholas Amayo, who also achieved a score of 38 stableford points but was second due to countback. 

Charles Terer showcased his talent as he secured third place with the same score of 38 stableford points, adding to the day’s excitement. 

Grace Wanjiku claimed the Ladies’ winner award, proudly scoring 37 stableford points and finishing ahead of the second-place Lady winner, Virginia Njenga, who competently recorded 36 stableford points. 

Gabriel Ndungu demonstrated his skill by winning the First Nine prize with a score of 20 stableford points, while Duncan Irungu took home the Second Nine prize with a robust score of 21 stableford points. 

Tall and athletic, Cassius Pennington, competing off a handicap of 9, captured the Junior prize with a score of 28 stableford points, a testament to his budding skills.
