AFC Leopards Chairman Boniface Ambani has expressed gratitude to Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli, following a meeting held at Atwoli’s residence in Kajiado on Monday, August 3, 2025.

Ambani, who was recently elected club chairman, termed Atwoli’s invitation as a significant step in uniting the club’s leadership and reconnecting with its roots.

In a public statement, Ambani praised Atwoli’s willingness to host and mentor the club’s newly elected National Executive Committee (NEC), describing the gesture as both humbling and inspiring.

“When an Elder allows you to see him, you need to appreciate the call,” Ambani stated. According to Ambani, Francis Atwoli shared a lot of his many life leadership experiences with the newly elected AFC Leopards office.

Engaging seasoned leaders

Ambani also emphasised the importance of such engagements with seasoned leaders, noting that they bring wisdom and renewed hope to the club’s leadership, which is determined to revive the fortunes of the 13-time Kenyan Premier League champions.

“On behalf of NEC and the entire AFC LEOPARDS fraternity, I say thanks so much. A bright future ahead,” Ambani added.

He also revealed that Atwoli made a personal donation of Ksh500,000 to support the club’s initiatives, which was warmly received.

“Your contribution of Kshs500K was well received and much appreciated,” he said.

Ambani further hinted at a renewed spirit within the club, marked by the return of former leaders and supporters rallying behind the team once again. This comes even as the club’s Secretary General Isaac Mulindi complained about individuals undermining the mandate of the AFC Leopards’ National Executive Committee last week in a detailed statement.

“The club elders are trickling back. You’re all welcome. Let’s make this club the best as we strive to look for more partners in support of the club. It will be the best,” he affirmed.

Last week, Ambani also led AFC Leopards’ top brass to the office of the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula where a discussion was also held.

The Monday’s meeting comes at a time when AFC Leopards is seeking to strengthen its institutional structures, attract new sponsors, and recapture past glory both on and off the pitch. The club’s leadership believes that strategic alliances with influential individuals and institutions will be crucial to its long-term success
