Kalonzo vows to keep his presidential campaign promise ahead of 2027 elections
The Wiper Patriotic Front leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed to keep his promise to Kenyans as he embarks on his presidential campaign ahead of 2027 anticipated elections.
In a statement on his official X account on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Kalonzo, who recently launched his campaign platform, highlighted key measures he will put to consideration once elected.
According to Kalonzo, his administration will have a predictable and sustainable taxation and revenue-sharing policy that is people-centred.
At the same time, with the conversation around the 2026/2027 budget taking centre stage among Kenyans, Kalonzo has vowed to write a different budget.
A budget, he says, will be built on the principle that in the Republic of Kenya, the government serves the people.
“We won’t just lip-sync and make promises to you that will never be honoured. Our administration shall have a predictable and sustainable taxation and revenue-sharing policy that is people-centred. We came to write a different budget entirely, one built on the principle that in the Republic of Kenya, the government serves the people,” Kalonzo stated.

Budget allocation
While analysing the government FY 2026/2027 budget summary, released by the National Treasury on April 30, 2026, Kalonzo has stated that the budget is by far the largest spending plan in the history of the Republic of Kenya.
Highlighting that the gross expenditure, which is Ksh4.82 trillion, does not equal the total revenue, including taxes and all other inflows, which stands at only Ksh3.63 trillion.
Kalonzo has further accused the current regime of fiscal management, noting that the gap between what the administration spends and what it collects stands at Ksh1.11 trillion, which he notes is a fiscal deficit of 5.3 per cent of Kenya’s entire GDP.
“The difference of Ksh1.11 trillion is borrowed. And it is borrowed on behalf of a child in Turkana who is four years old today, who has never signed a loan agreement and who has never attended a budget committee hearing,” Kalonzo stated.
Kalonzo’s campaign
Kalonzo recently launched his campaign platform, marking a significant step in Kalonzo’s preparations for the 2027 General Election as political leaders across the country begin positioning themselves ahead of the highly anticipated contest.
With the slogan “Tukomboe Kenya,” Kalonzo’s campaign seeks to rally Kenyans around a platform focused on economic recovery, accountability, and inclusive development.
The campaign platform outlines Kalonzo’s vision in a thirteen-point presidential agenda, which includes ending corruption, health for all, and respect for human rights and freedom.
At the same time, the platform outlines Kalonzo’s decades-long track record of leadership, from working as a diplomat to serving as Kenya’s tenth vice president.
