Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya has admitted that his perception of the Kenya Kwanza government has changed since joining it.

Speaking to residents of Malava in Kakamega County on Saturday, August 17, 2024, Oparanya expressed his satisfaction with the progress made by the government, acknowledging that his eyes have been opened to the significant developments that have taken place.

Oparanya, who was recently appointed to the Kenya Kwanza administration from the opposition, noted that in the short period he has been in government, which is a week, he has seen tremendous development done to the country.

Na hii wiki moja nimekaa kwa hii serikali, nimeona imefanya mambo mengi. You know, when I was outside, I didn’t know what was inside. But now that I am inside, I know how it is,” he declared.

The former Kakamega Governor further affirmed his commitment to working alongside President William Ruto to continue developing the country.

“I have obeyed the call. I will now join the president to develop the country,” he added.

Oparanya accompanied the president on his ongoing development tour in the western region, which started on Saturday.

He is one of the key figures from the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, led by Raila Odinga, who was appointed to positions within the Kenya Kwanza government.

Just recently, Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, who was also handpicked by President Ruto from the ODM, accompanied the Head of State to Kirinyaga County.

Joho also pledged to work closely with the government to carry out development initiatives.

“I am in William Samoei Ruto’s government. The president has given us orders. I came here to check on the fish project, and he told me that after two months, he wants to come and see if it is completed,” Joho stated.
