National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has mourned the late Likuyani and Lugari MP Enoch Kibunguchy, who passed on on Monday, December 23, 2025, in Eldoret.

Through his official page, Wetangula extolled the contributions of the late MP to the nation, citing his diligence during his tenure as the legislator for Likuyani and his stint in the public service.

“I have received with profound sorrow the news of the passing of former Likuyani Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy, who died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Eldoret,” part of the speaker’s tribute read.

Devoted servant

“Dr. Kibunguchy was a devoted public servant whose life was marked by humility, compassion, and steadfast service, having distinguished himself both as a medical professional and as a legislator. During his tenure in the National Assembly, he was a diligent and principled member who consistently championed the development agenda and the welfare of the people of Likuyani,” he added.

He equally lauded his role in leveraging his medical background to better the lives of his constituents and the nation.

“His contribution to public life and to the advancement of healthcare and leadership in our region will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.”

The deceased worked alongside the speaker and was elected on the FORD Kenya ticket as he became the founding MP for Likuyani Constituency, representing the residents for two consecutive terms between 2013 and 2022.

His tenure as MP was curtailed after being trounced by Innocent Mugabe in the 2022 elections after serving for two terms.

He was, however, planning a political comeback, having declared his bid to contest the seat after he defected to the United Opposition faction.

His demise comes as the nation mourns the demise of another son of Lugari, in Cyrus Jirongo, who passed on on Saturday, December 13, 2025
