Uhuru congratulates Kenyatta Trust scholar Moses Ekuwam on PhD milestone
Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has congratulated Kenyatta Trust scholar Moses Ekuwam after he advanced to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), describing his academic journey as an example of how investing in education can transform lives.
In a message shared by the Office of the 4th President of Kenya on X on Sunday, June 28, 2026, Uhuru celebrated Ekuwam’s rise from a young scholar from Turkana County to a master’s degree graduate and now a PhD scholar.
“Congratulations, Moses Ekuwam. It has been a joy to watch your journey from a young scholar from Turkana County to a Master’s graduate and now a PhD scholar. May this next chapter bring even greater success,” the message read.

The fourth President added that Ekuwam’s achievement reflects the impact the Kenyatta Trust continues to have by supporting talented young people across the country.
“Stories like yours are why I am proud to champion the work of Kenyatta Trust. By investing in the potential of young people today, we help shape leaders who will transform families, communities and generations.”
Uhuru concluded his message by wishing the scholar success as he embarks on the next stage of his academic journey.
“Congratulations once again, Moses. I wish you every success on the journey ahead.”

About Kenyatta Trust
The Kenyatta Trust is a charitable organisation established in 1968 to support academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students across Kenya.
Through scholarships, mentorship and education support programmes, the Trust has enabled thousands of learners to complete secondary school and pursue higher education.

The organisation has, over the years, focused on nurturing future leaders by investing in young people from different parts of the country, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds.
Education journey
Ekuwam’s progression from a scholarship beneficiary to a master’s graduate and now a PhD scholar highlights the long-term impact of education sponsorship programmes.
His achievement comes as Kenya continues to encourage greater investment in higher education, research and innovation, with scholarships remaining an important avenue for talented students who might otherwise struggle to access academic opportunities.
By highlighting Ekuwam’s success, Uhuru reaffirmed his support for the Kenyatta Trust’s mission to empower young Kenyans through education and to develop future leaders capable of transforming their communities and the country.
