Susan Kihika slams Gachagua, accuses him of blackmailing her spouse
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has lashed out at Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s post, accusing him of blackmailing her husband, Businessman Sam Mburu.
In a statement on her official X account on Monday, February 9, 2026, Kihika revealed that the DCP party leader had previously approached her spouse with an extortion plan in what she described as a ‘protection fee’.
“Whom the gods want to destroy, they first make mad! Mr Gachagua, you are losing it! My spouse clearly lives rent-free in your head, is it because he refused to be blackmailed & extorted by you for a ‘protection fee’ like you do other Mulima businessmen?” Kihika stated.
In the previous post, Gachagua had revealed that the businessman was using police officers to disrupt his political engagements in the county.
On her part, Governor Kihika, while exposing Gachagua’s conversations with her husband, narrated that Gachagua had in the past reached out to her husband, asking for a partnership in the importation of sugar, which, in turn, the businessman turned him down.
“Didn’t you have him do business with your son? (Have the evidence) Didn’t you call him to partner with you for the importation of sugar, and he declined that you now want to come here and act brand new? Let me stop there, but know you can’t intimidate us, and there is a lot more where that came from,” she added.
Despite the business deal going south, Kihika accused Gachagua of insulting her husband during his visit to the Kinamba area in Naivasha.
“What are you so afraid of that you seem to be chasing your shadow? You came to Kinamba, Naivasha yesterday and 90% of your speech was insulting my spouse and I you didn’t even give a single agenda on what you would do for the country should you ever be elected (though we all know you can’t even run due to that small issue of impeachment) now you run around crying wolf, what are you really afraid of?,” Kihika explained.
“For the avoidance of doubt let me repeat what I said about your visit to Nakuru, you like any other person are welcome to come to Nakuru anytime HOWEVER your hobby of incitement and bad manners should be checked at the county’s entrance. We are a cosmopolitan County and don’t entertain small minded tribal bigots! Umezidi!,” Kihika added.

Gachagua’s remarks on Nakuru’s incident
Kihika’s remarks come just moments after Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused businessman Sam Mburu of using police officers to disrupt his political engagements in the county, alleging that law enforcement has been hijacked for partisan purposes.
In a statement released on Monday, Gachagua claimed that officers under the command of Naivasha OCPD Wilson Sigei and Nakuru County Commander Opuru Emmanuel blocked his entourage from entering Nakuru from Nyandarua County to address a public meeting at Kinamba Trading Centre.
While narrating the Nakuru incident, the DCP Party leader confirmed that he had alerted the Nakuru Police Command of his upcoming gathering. To his surprise, he was met with four police Land Cruisers blocking his entrance.
“I specifically alerted you that the Police Command in Nakuru County was in the hands of the spouse to the County Governor,” Gachagua said.
Further adding “The busybody ordered the Nakuru County Commander to erect a roadblock at Karati River and stop my entourage from entering Nakuru County. The police, in four Land Cruisers with officers masking their faces, harassed members of the public for over an hour before withdrawing after hundreds of agitated residents demanded access,” Gachagua said.
He accused the Inspector-General of Police Dougals Kanja of failing to exercise authority over officers in Nakuru, alleging that the police command has effectively been surrendered to Governor Kihika’s husband, a businessman involved in the importation of duty-free sugar and rice, to advance personal and political interests.
“Sure as December 25th is Christmas, the IG seems to have no control of the police in Nakuru County. The command has regrettably been surrendered to a business associate of Governor Kihika, to the detriment of the Kenyan public and farmers,” Gachagua said.
