Salasya calls for an end to Nairobi Hospital boardroom fights
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has voiced concern over what he described as a deteriorating work environment at Nairobi Hospital, where he said senior doctors are facing undue pressure.
He emphasised that the reputation and legacy of medical professionals must be protected.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, March 16, 2026, Salasya lamented the treatment of long-serving doctors who have dedicated decades to patient care, highlighting the human cost of internal power disputes.
“It is painful to watch what is happening at Nairobi Hospital,” Salasya stated.

The MP reflected on the decades of service provided by senior doctors, stressing that their commitment and sacrifices should be recognised, not undermined. He pointed to Obwaka as an example of a medical professional whose decades of work have contributed significantly to the hospital’s reputation.
“How did we reach a point where respected senior doctors are being frustrated and pushed aside? Men like Obwaka have spent decades serving patients, saving lives, and building the reputation of this hospital. That kind of dedication deserves respect, not humiliation,” he said.
Salasya further warned that the ongoing internal conflicts at the hospital compromise its primary mission of care and dignity for patients, noting that power struggles should never come at the expense of humanity.

“Power struggles may come and go, but humanity should never be lost. The people fighting so hard for control today should remember something important: one day, they too may lie on a hospital bed and depend on the same profession they are disrespecting now,” he stated.
He reiterated that healthcare facilities must remain places of healing and dignity, not arenas for internal disputes, and urged stakeholders to focus on the welfare of both staff and patients.
“A hospital should be a place of healing, dignity, and respect, not a battlefield for power,” Salasya said.
Finally, Salasya called on authorities and the public to uphold the respect and legacy of medical professionals who have dedicated their lives to saving others.
“Let us protect the people who have protected our lives for years. Respect our doctors. Respect their legacy,” he emphasised.
