Ruto stresses national unity as cornerstone for inclusive development
President William Ruto has called for national unity, emphasising that the country’s prosperity and development depend on a government that leaves no region behind.
In a statement posted on his X account on Friday, January 30, 2026, following an engagement with residents of Kisumu at Kondele and Kisumu City, the President underscored national unity and inclusivity as key pillars for achieving equitable development across all regions of the country.
“The people of Kisumu are clear in their voice: they want development, they want prosperity, and they want opportunity that reaches every household and every neighbourhood. They want to belong to a government that lifts all people and leaves no region behind. We are determined to build that future together,” Ruto stated.
Inclusive nation
The President outlined his vision for a united Kenya where every community and region plays an integral role in the country’s progress.
“Our collective mission is a united and inclusive nation, where every community has a voice, every region has value, and every citizen has a stake in our shared destiny,” he said.
Ruto expressed gratitude to the people of Kisumu for their warm reception during his visit.
“Thank you Kisumu, for your welcome, your energy, and your faith. I love you,” he added.
Investment plan
Ruto further outlined a comprehensive transformation plan for Kisumu County as part of the broader national economic agenda.
“We have a solid plan to transform Kisumu as part of our wider mission to transform the country to a first-world economy. In Kisumu County alone, we have committed Ksh44 billion to deliver 14,000 affordable housing units, 20 modern markets, and student hostels for 10,200 learners, creating jobs for more than 15,000 young people,” he said.
President Ruto revealed additional investments in infrastructure and sports facilities.
“We have allocated a further Ksh5 billion for roads across the county, an additional Ksh950 million investment to modernise Moi Stadium into a state-of-the-art facility,” he stated.
