Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has argued that it is only President William Ruto who can save the abducted Kenyan nationals Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who went missing on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Uganda.

Taking to X on Saturday, October 4, 2025, the Kileleshwa MCA aimed a dig at the two activists for differing with the current administration under President William Ruto, further adding that it is the same Head of State who has the power to save the two from their predicaments after the abduction.

The absence of Njagi and Oyoo has sparked public outrage, with human rights activists calling for their immediate release. The duo had travelled to Uganda to join Bobi Wine on his campaign trail on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

”Only Ruto, whom they despise, can rescue my friend Bob Njagi from their self-inflicted woes. Only Ruto can save them from themselves. You see how funny life becomes? You are stupid to the extent that the man you constantly hate is the one who must now rescue you,” Alai said.

Robert Alai’s remarks come at a time when Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed collaborating with Ugandan security agencies to find the two who were abducted in Kampala by armed operatives at a petrol station in Kireka, where they had gone for mechanical assistance. According to Bobi Wine, the two were bundled into a vehicle and driven to an undisclosed location, with their whereabouts still unknown.

”In light of the foregoing, and to address the concerns raised by the families of the two Kenyan nationals, the Mission requests the Ministry’s assistance in liaising with the relevant authorities in Kampala to obtain information regarding the current situation of the missing Kenyans for the Mission to take appropriate action in securing their release and safe return to Kenya.”

“The High Commission of the Republic of Kenya in Kampala avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda the assurances of its highest consideration,” part of the statement by the Kenyan Embassy in Uganda said on Friday, October 3, 2025.

Bobi Wine condemns abduction

Meanwhile, Bobi Wine, Uganda’s presidential hopeful in the next general election, has condemned the particular abduction of Kenyan activists, blasting the Ugandan government led by President Yoweri Museveni for dictatorship.

“We strongly condemn the abduction by armed operatives of Kenyan activists and human rights defenders Bob Nyagi and Nicholas Ayoo. The two were picked up mafia-style this afternoon from a petrol station in Kireka and driven off to an unknown destination!” Bobi Wine stated.
