Directors of yet another job recruitment agency are this morning expected to appears before detectives at the Nairobi Area Police over allegations of fleecing more than Sh 800 million from desperate Kenyans seeking greener pastures abroad.

Directors of Amble Beginning Consult Limited have been summoned to appear before the Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Officers this morning as the detectives launch probe into the allegations.

The directors are expected to respond to claims that they defrauded at least 1,100 Kenyans while promising them job opportunities abroad.

The summons comes a week after the same detectives quizzed flashy Pastor James Wanjohi of Jesus Culture Ministries for allegedly conning some job seekers more than Sh600 million through a similar foreign jobs scam.

Yesterday, Nairobi Regional DCI boss Peter Nthigah confirmed that they had summoned two directors of Amble Beginning Consult Limited….Alphonse Kioko Kivindu (director) and Anderson Njeru (Chief Executive) over the fresh Sh 800 million jobs scam.

Nthiga said most of the victims are travel agents who received money from their clients with promises of getting them job opportunities through Amble Beginning Consult Limited.

“This is the second recruitment agency that we are investigating after Worthstart Africa, linked to Pastor James Wanjohi. In this case, we are investigating claims that the firm swindled the victims of Sh 800 million,” Nthigah told the People Daily.

Last week, Nthigah said his officers raided the offices of Amble Beginning Consult Limited located at 4th Avenue Plaza and carted away several documents and electronic devises.

But the company’s Chief Executive Anderson Njeru while confirming they would honour the summons, exonerated their firm from any wrong doing and instead threw the blame to travel agents, whom he said failed to refund their clients.

Labour issues

“Our firm only engages in labour issues consultancy and we don’t recruit people, which is the work of agencies. Ours we only deal with our partners from abroad who approach us whenever they have vacancies to fill. Thereafter, we engage the services of the recruitment agencies to bring us the people,” Njeru explained.

Njeru blamed some of the recruitment agencies for failing to refund some of their clients who fail to secure the job opportunities for the cause of the apparent complaints they are facing.

“We refund all the application and processing fees to individuals who fail to go through. But the problem is with the recruitment agencies who don’t submit that money back to their clients,” Njeru told the People Daily.

He also pointed fingers at some of their competitors for being on a mission to taint their good image.

However, detectives’ privy to the investigations told the People Daily that victims had furnished them with documents indicating how they may have lost between Sh130, 000 and Sh600, 000 in the jobs scam.

The detectives say the recruitment agencies pay the money to Amble Beginning Consult Limited for every application made.
