Police in Kericho intensify hunt for Rai Cement manager killers
By Zadock Angira, September 25, 2019Police in Kericho have intensified the hunt for the killers of Rai Cement Limited’s general manager, Chattan Vyas who is suspected to have been tortured and killed by unknown people in his house in Kericho on Sunday night.
Police said about three attackers gained entry into the deceased’s house through the roof and tied his hands and legs before strangling.
Kericho Deputy County Police Commander Patricia Nasio yesterday said they had launched investigations into the killing believed to have taken place between 11pm on Sunday and 4am on Monday.
The killers are suspected to have stolen cash of unknown amount in the house during the attack.
Nasio said surveillance cameras installed outside the house in Kipsitet were tampered with before the brutal attack.
The body was found by the deceased’s house-help who went to the house to serve him breakfast.
Detectives also said they would examine the CCTV footage to try and identify the attackers. “The motive of the attack and the identity of the killers are yet to be established,” Nasio said. The body was transferred to the Kericho County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
