Nyamira: Son kills father over property
Police in Nyamira County are pursuing a 22-year-old man who killed his father on Thursday and dumped his body in a tea farm.
According to the area assistant chief Jones Kea, the son George Nyandika was having wrangles with his father Isaac Mogaka over property ownership.
“Residents of the said area were shocked when George Nyandika, aged 22 years, set upon his 55-year-old father Isaac Mogaka Manyuru with a panga yesterday at around 9.00 in the morning after a brief quarrel in their tea farm on what neighbours said to be a land and property ownership disagreement,” Mr. Kea said.
The local administrator told KNA that a village elder called him informing him of the heinous act at Bombere Kiabora village in Egetonto, Nyamira County.
“When I responded to a distress call from my village elder at Bombere Kiabora village I immediately informed the Sub County OCS who also visited the scene and we found the lifeless body of Isaac Mogaka in his tea plantation with deep cuts on his head, neck, and right hand,” added Mr. Kea.
From the scene, police recovered a panga believed to have been used by the suspect to commit the crime.
The remains of the victim were taken to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital for autopsy.
