NSL set for weekend return
The much-awaited Betika National Super League 2020/2021 season will kick off this Saturday, December 12, according to revised fixtures released by Football Kenya Federation.
The league was initially scheduled to kick off on November 28 but was pushed forward by two weeks after the Ministry of Sports only allowed the resumption of the top tier league, BetKing Premier League.
Four matches are lined up for Saturday kick-off with six more sets for Sunday.
Shabana FC is scheduled to take on relegated side Chemelil Sugar at Chemelil Complex while ambitious newly promoted side Mwatate United welcome Coast Stima at Wundanyi Stadium, Taita Taveta, in a coastal derby.
Nairobi Stima are pitted against newcomers Soy United at Camp Toyoyo, Nairobi, as well-oiled new side Silibwet FC entertain relegated side Sony Sugar at Silibwet Grounds, Bomet county, all on Saturday.
On Sunday, Migori Youth FC will host Ushuru FC in what’s the highlight of the day at Migori Stadium with coach Robert Ojienda who guided the side to a record fifth-place finish last season is full of confidence.
“A footballer is like a soldier and must be ever ready all the time. Change of fixtures does not affect the team at all, we are ready for any team that will come our way,” a buoyant Ojienda told People Sport.
In other matches, Kibera Black Stars will lock horns with Murang’a Seal at Ruaraka Grounds, Nairobi, with Modern Coast Rangers taking on visiting Talanta at Serani Grounds Mombasa.
