New hospital board urges public scrutiny after leadership changes

The new Nairobi Hospital board of management has offered itself for public scrutiny barely one month following the recent leadership changes.
At the same time the board dismissed various reports that have been trending recently on the social media about the hospital’s internal management as the work of selfish characters, within and out of the institution that are keen on its downfall. The reports have raised eyebrows on the board of management’s integrity and quality of leadership.
During a meeting with journalists at the hospital premises, the board of management asked Kenyans and its clients not to hesitate pointing out where things go wrong.
For the better part of last year and early this year the hospital has faced internal wrangles, including disputes over doctor suspensions and governance issues. However, according to the newly appointed board chair, Barcley Onyambu, the challenges were a blessing in disguise as this has helped the board of management to quickly find solutions.
“We recognise that we will be judged by how well we lead the hospital beyond this period. Our dedicated staff continues to deliver uninterrupted and quality service to the public,” said Onyambu.
As part of the plans to steady the ship, the board of management also announced its expansion with new members to complement its diverse experience and expertise. The expanded board will also provide a platform for fresh perspectives; Onyambu said is crucial in driving the hospital’s day-to-day operational goals.
“Measures are already in place to safeguard business continuity and ensure that core services and hospital operations remain uninterrupted,” he added.
Hospital CEO Felix Osano said the new board of management is taking decisive steps to address the challenges, and ensure that the institution remains a beacon of trust and quality healthcare in the country.
“The Nairobi Hospital has been making changes in its board of directors in a move aimed at enhancing governance and operational excellence,” he said.
