Ichungw’ah dismisses opposition brigade for lacking agenda for Kenyans
National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungw’ah has slammed the opposition brigade for fueling the politics of violence and sowing divisions in the country.
Speaking during an empowerment drive in Narok County on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Ichungw’ah warned the outfit that the people of Kenya deserve better than what they were offering.
“The only demos allowed in the constitution are peaceful demonstrations where you can express your issues and allow others have their say too. The demos where people engage in things must be condemned,” he said.
No agenda
“You have seen those people inciting others in Nairobi. They have no agenda, and wherever they go, they are accompanied by goons armed with clubs. They have no agenda other than William Ruto and one term,” he said.
Ichungw’ah affirmed that, unlike the opposition, the Kenya Kwanza administration is focused on fulfilling the promises they made to Kenyans.
“We want to tell them we will not compete with them on the politics of hatred. We are traversing counties in Kenya so that people understand our bottom-up agenda, like that of constructing markets that benefit the people,” he stated.

We want to tell them Kenyans want unity and leaders who have vision and an agenda and help them and their business grow, and not incite them against others,” he added.
Ichungwa’s remarks come days after he specifically called out the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, for what he termed as crossing the line over his incessant attacks and unfounded allegations against him and President William Ruto.
In a strong-worded statement shared via his X page on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, moments after Gachagua accused him of orchestrating attacks on police stations during the Saba Saba chaos, Ichung’wah laughed off the allegations as senseless and ridiculous.
“My attention has been drawn to some ridiculous claims by Mr. Rigathi Gachagua, whom, for the longest time, have resisted responding to his barrage of ridiculous and senseless accusations, out of respect, perhaps even pity, for a man still licking the wounds of his impeachment,” he said.
According to Ichungw’ah, Gachagua’s adversarial stance emanates from his impeachment as the Second Deputy President in 2024, and has since escalated to become a national threat.
“But the line has been crossed… Mr. Rigathi Gachagua’s deep-seated bitterness, his bile, and obsessive hatred towards President William Ruto and me have gone beyond personal grudges; they have become dangerous and now risk the very existence of our nation, not to mention our democracy. It was brewed in his pot by his politics of lies, intimidation, and calculated chaos. His anger is no longer his alone to carry; it now threatens to poison the very soul of our nation.
