Caleb Amisi hits back at Ayub Savula over claims of plan to woo him to Ruto’s side
Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has dismissed claims by Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula that he is in talks to join President William Ruto’s camp, describing the claims as false, reckless and aimed at creating divisions among leaders pushing for political change.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Amisi said he had taken note of what he termed ‘misleading claims’ made by Savula during a television interview, insisting that he was not engaged in any political discussions or arrangements with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The Saboti lawmaker said the country had reached a point where leaders should focus on serious political issues instead of engaging in speculation and propaganda. He maintained that ideology has always been at the centre of his political journey and argued that the struggle for change in Kenya was too important to be trivialised by unfounded accusations.
‘I have taken note of the unfortunate remarks and propaganda being circulated suggesting that I am engaged in conversations or political arrangements with the William Ruto regime. These allegations are false, reckless, and intended to sow division within those who seek genuine change in Kenya,”amisi stated
“To my friend Ayub Savula, whom I have known for many years, I say this respectfully: this is no longer the season for political jokes or careless speculation. UNLIKE YOU, some of us are well brought up, well mannered, well schooled, well cultured and highly principled ” he added.

Amisi also criticised what he described as a growing tendency by some opposition figures to label young leaders as moles whenever they express independent political views. He maintained that his commitment to standing with ordinary Kenyans could not be questioned.
Savula woes Amisi

While speaking to the media on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the outspoken Kakamega gubernatorial hopeful also stated that they are capitalising on the differences within the Linda Mwananchi movement to pull the Saboti lawmaker, who claims to be the brain behind the Linda Mwananchi movement, to the government’s side.
“As we speak now we have begun talking to Caleb Amisi; we have engaged him formally and very soon, if the negotiation goes successfully, he will join Ruto’s Tulam. There seem to be huge political differences within that Linda Mwananchi team, and those differences are what we will be capitalising on to pull Amisi to our side,” Savula revealed.
Amisi exits Linda Mwananchi.
This comes days after Caleb Amisi announced his departure from the Linda Mwananchi movement in order to form his own movement, saying the Linda Mwananchi movement had failed to live up to its initial assignment, where it was supposed to remove all legacy politicians from the political scene.
