Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his criticism of President William Ruto, accusing the Head of State of presiding over rampant corruption and claiming the current administration has normalized bribery.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, July 26, 2027, the former Deputy President alleged that corruption had reached unprecedented levels under President Ruto’s leadership.

Hii Kenya yetu iko na shida. Mambo ya ufisadi imezidi. Too much corruption. Huyu William Ruto ataingia historia ya Kenya kama rais mfisadi zaidi tangu 1963,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua went on to allege that government officials had begun demanding bribes from foreign nationals, saying the practice risked damaging Kenya’s reputation internationally.

Wameanza kuitisha ata wazungu hongo, wazungu weupe. Na hii, Ruto na watu wake hawajui wazungu. Hii wazungu mambo ya hongo hawataki, si kama sisi.

He did not provide evidence to support the allegations made in the video.

Gachagua’s attack on Ruto

The latest remarks add to a series of attacks by Gachagua against the Kenya Kwanza administration following his fallout with President Ruto.

In recent weeks, the DCP leader has accused the President of losing control of the country, claimed Kenya was sliding into lawlessness, and alleged that corruption had become deeply entrenched in public institutions.

Using Facebook on Monday, July 13, 2026, Gachagua accused Ruto of surrendering his authority to govern and claimed Kenya was heading towards anarchy.

“It is no longer a secret; William Ruto has lost control of the Country and surrendered his authority to govern,” Gachagua wrote.

“He does not have a clue about what is happening.”

Gachagua further said that rogue police officers operating in plain clothes were masquerading as goons and being deployed to attack members of the public.

He also accused unnamed senior security officials of planning and financing the operations.

“What we have are rogue police officers in plain clothes, hooded and armed, masquerading as goons and deployed to maim and fight citizens,” he wrote.

Gachagua did not provide evidence to support the allegations in his statement.
