Gachagua announces US tour a month after cutting short his UK visit
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced a tour of the United States days after concluding his diaspora engagement in the United Kingdom.
In a statement shared by Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Youth League leader Wanjiku Thiga on social media on Monday, June 29, 2026, Gachagua is scheduled to undertake the tour between September and October 2026.

According to the itinerary, the former deputy president will begin his US tour in Oregon before proceeding to Spokane, Washington. He will then travel to Kansas and Dallas and conclude the tour in Boston, where he is expected to meet members of the Kenyan diaspora.
Gachagua’s UK tour
The announcement comes a month after Gachagua concluded his tour of the United Kingdom on May 24, 2026, where he urged Kenyans living in Britain to rally behind his political bid and support the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The UK tour, which had initially been scheduled to last for a month, was cut short after just one week.
Gachagua explained that the visit was intended to help raise Ksh2 billion to finance his party’s nomination exercise and political activities in the run-up to the 2027 polls.
He, however, said he was forced to return home early because Kenyans were going through difficult times and he could not afford the luxury of remaining abroad while his supporters faced challenges back home.
“Kenyans are saying that somebody must speak for us, and to many Kenyans, that person who can speak and who must speak is Riggy G,” he said at the time.
“Over the weekend I will be back home so that I can support the people of Kenya so that I can speak for them and give them hope and encourage them that there will be a better tomorrow.”
During the UK tour, Gachagua called on Kenyans in the diaspora to take a more active role in the country’s political leadership and participate in national affairs, arguing that the country was headed in the wrong direction.
Gachagua’s goodies to the diaspora
He also outlined a number of promises to the diaspora community should he form the next government.
Among them was a commitment to reserve some of his party’s nominated positions in the National Assembly, Senate and county assemblies for Kenyans living abroad.
He further pledged to allocate a share of diplomatic appointments to members of the diaspora, saying they possess valuable international exposure and a better understanding of diplomacy.
In addition, Gachagua promised to abolish double taxation on diaspora remittances if elected president in 2027.
The planned US visit will mark Gachagua’s second tour of the United States after his visit in October last year, when he toured several states, beginning with Seattle, where he held meetings with Kenyans living abroad.
