Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has faulted Saboti MP Caleb Amisi over what he termed ‘double standards’ for attacking former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while, at the same time, attending a United Opposition rally held in Trans Nzoia County months ago.

While speaking in a video shared on his social media accounts on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the outspoken MP also blasted his counterpart over the remarks he made about Gachagua, where he warned Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna against entering into a pact with the Democracy for the Citizens Party leader.

Wewe Hon. Caleb Amisi mbona ulikuja mkutano wa Wamunyoro, Kitale, na Kiminini? Tunarudi Kitale nikupate. Kama umekuja, hutapata microphone na kama utakuja na goons, utakimbia.”

Salasya further told Caleb Amisi that the United Opposition will be back in his constituency again in July 2026 and warned him not to dare attend their political gathering if he continues attacking leaders allied to the opposition.

He also labelled Amisi a mole, claiming that he had only been attending the coalition’s political gatherings to spy on their activities and not because he genuinely supports the movement.

This comes at a time when Caleb Amisi has been sending confusing political signals to the public, having attacked the Linda Mwananchi movement for showing willingness to partner with the United Opposition while, at the same time, being spotted attending United Alternative Government rallies.

He has also recently further fuelled confusion after being spotted holding talks with George Natembeya, a key figure within the United Opposition, and even embracing his “Tawe” slogan, which is the governor’s political messaging.

Amisi exits Linda Mwananchi.

This comes days after he announced his departure from the Linda Mwananchi movement, which he claims he was the brain behind. He accused the Linda Mwananchi movement, led by Edwin Sifuna, of deviating from its original course, where it was supposed to be issue-based and fight against legacy politicians.

Instead, according to him, it has gone ahead and shown willingness to partner with the same crop of politicians it sought to eradicate.

In line with this, Amisi announced that he is forming his own movement, dubbed Renaissance, to champion the course left by Linda Mwananchi.

Orengo slams Amisi

Siaya Governor James Orengo, who is also a prominent face of the Linda Mwananchi faction, has taken a swipe at Caleb Amisi, terming his criticism of Linda Mwananchi hypocritical and saying it should not be taken seriously.

Orengo argued that the Linda Mwananchi principals, whom Amisi has been heavily criticising for expressing interest in partnering with the United Opposition, have not been spotted attending any United Opposition rallies.

He, however, pointed out that Amisi himself has been spotted attending political activities organised by the opposition outfit led by Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka, questioning the consistency of the Saboti MP’s position.
