Kingi leads Senate in mourning MP Denar Hamisi
Senate Speaker Amason Jeffah Kingi has led Members of the House in paying tribute to the late nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Denar Joseph Hamisi, who passed away on Saturday morning, December 6, 2025.
The death of MP Hamisi was confirmed by the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetang’ula, who described the deceased as a legislator who served the August House and the nation with unwavering dedication, humility, and commitment as a member of the Departmental Committee on Sports & Culture and the Select Committee on National Cohesion & Equal Opportunities.
MP Hamisis dies
”It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of our colleague, Nominated Member, the late Hon. Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, who left us this morning,” Wetang’ula announced MP Hamisi’s death via X.

”His extensive service in both the public and private sectors before joining Parliament stands as a testament to his lifelong devotion to Kenya. On behalf of the National Assembly, the entire parliamentary fraternity, and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, constituents, and all who were touched by his steadfast service,” Wetang’ula’s statement added.
On his part, Amason Kingi has described the demise of the departed legislator as shocking and devastating.
Senate mourns
”The demise of Hon Denar Joseph Hamisi, MP, this morning has left us all shocked and devastated. Born in Kinango and a key member of the Coast Parliamentary Group, Hon Denar served in his nominated capacity with distinction and dedication,” Speaker Amason Kingi took to X on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

”His membership in several National Assembly Committees attests to his commitment to his constitutional duties of oversight, legislation, and representation. Outside Parliament, Hon Denar has been instrumental in helping shape the development agenda of the Coast region and progress in our country through the various positions he has occupied. On my own behalf and that of the Senate, I send our most heartfelt condolences to Hon Denar’s family, the people of Kinango and Coast region, and Kenyans at large for this immense loss. May God keep his soul in eternal peace,” Kingi added in a statement.
Following the passing of Denar Hamisi, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has announced the burial arrangements, revealing that a team led by Deputy Leader of the Majority Party, Owen Baya Yaa, has been appointed to liaise with the family and support a befitting farewell.
