Residents and businesses in Nairobi’s Embakasi area are set to experience a scheduled electricity interruption on Saturday, March 28, 2026, as part of routine network maintenance aimed at improving service reliability.

According to an official notice issued on Friday, March 27, 2026, by Kenya Power, the planned power maintenance will affect several commercial and residential locations within the Nairobi region.

The outage is scheduled to run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on the specified date.

Areas listed in the notice include CITAM Embakasi, KSD Business Park, Emirates Business Park, Skyline Estate, Kenya Airways Pride Centre, Naivas Supermarket Embakasi, Quickmart Supermarket Embakasi, Cabro Kenya Ltd, Kirinyaga Construction Company, KEMSA, and adjacent customers.

These locations host a mix of offices, retail outlets, logistics facilities, and residential estates, meaning the temporary power disruption could impact daily operations and service delivery across the area.

In a brief statement accompanying the notice, the utility provider reassured customers that the interruption is part of routine infrastructure upkeep designed to maintain the stability and efficiency of the electricity network.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (28th March 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” the utility firm wrote.

Planned maintenance activities typically involve inspection of electrical lines, replacement of ageing components, system upgrades, and safety checks.

Such operations are considered essential to prevent unexpected outages and ensure a consistent electricity supply in rapidly growing urban zones like Embakasi, which continues to see increased commercial and residential development.

Businesses operating in the affected locations are advised to make contingency arrangements, including backup power solutions where possible, to minimise disruptions to customer service, production schedules, and digital operations.

Residents are also encouraged to plan household activities accordingly, especially those that depend heavily on electricity, such as cooking, refrigeration, and remote work.

The electricity provider acknowledged the inconvenience that may result from the temporary shutdown and appealed for public understanding during the maintenance period. In its communication.

“We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” the company noted.

Power supply is expected to be restored once maintenance work is completed, although restoration times may vary depending on operational conditions and safety requirements.

Customers are encouraged to treat all electrical installations as live during the outage period and to report any emergencies through official customer service channels.
