Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Monday, March 16
Kenya Power has listed areas set to experience electricity interruptions on Monday, March 16, 2026. The company posted the information on its social media accounts on Sunday, 15 March, warning customers to plan for the outages.
“Good evening. The listed area will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (16th March 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” the company said.
In the Central Rift Region, parts of Kericho County will be affected. Power will be off from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Areas scheduled for the blackout include Bureti Dairies, Cheborge Market, Cheborge Boys and Girls Secondary School, Cheplanget Market, Chebwagwan Secondary School, Kibwastuiyo Market, Ngesumin Secondary, Kapsegut Boys, Kureti TTI, Kenene Dispensary, Bokoyot Centre, part of Roret Market, Tebesonik Factory and Tebesonik Centre, along with adjacent customers. Kenya Power urged residents and businesses to plan accordingly.

South Nyanza, Nyeri blackouts
In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Kisii County will experience blackouts from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Areas include Kenyenya Primary, Nyangweta SDA Secondary, Etago Market, Nyansembe, Nyakeyo, Suguta, Moticho, Engou, Nyabera, Nyamaiya, Ekona, Mogenda, Ochodororo and Maroo, along with nearby customers.
A second section covering Gesonso and Nyakungu will also be without power at the same time, affecting Gesonso Market, Gesonso Police, Ekioga, Ekioga Vocational, Nyakungu Primary and surrounding customers.
In Nyamira County, power will be off in Omogonchororo and Moneke from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected areas include Omogonchoro Market, Moitunya, Nyachichi Secondary, Kerora and Kiabiraa Secondary, plus neighbouring customers.
Parts of Nyeri County in the Mt. Kenya Region will also experience blackouts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The outage will hit Kamakwa, Kamuyu, Nyawira Estate, parts of Ring Road, Kanoga Primary, Mwonjoria, Kandara, Mt. Kenya Salvation School, Ciaraini, Karingaini, White House and St. Xavier Gitathiini, as well as surrounding customers. Another area including Njoguini, Kiina, Kabage, Njoguini Dispensary, Thatha and Njoguini Village will also be affected.
