Kenya Power announces outage affecting parts of 4 counties on Sunday
Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a series of planned power disruptions affecting several counties on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
The maintenance exercise covers both the northeastern and western regions, with specific zones in Kiambu, Garissa, Kisumu and Nyamira set to experience temporary supply interruptions.
KPLC has also expressed regret for not notifying their users late after power had already been cut off in the select regions.

In Kiambu County (north-eastern region), areas including Ngethu, Ngorongo and a host of adjoining villages and markets will face outages between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. These localities include Ngethu Lower Camp, Kariuki Muiruri, Ngorongo Dispensary, Ngorongo Market, Ndekei Secondary School, Dry Village, Kariua, Kamwangi DC, Kamwangi Market, Kairi Market, Nguna Village, Nyamathumbi, Karuri, Igegania Hospital Village, Nyamagara, Mukuyuini, Kang’oo, Mukurwe, Gatei, Kanjuku, Watathii, Gathaiti, Mbici Village, Ruburi, Mbogoro, Karera Village, Kagumoini, Ritho Village, Icaciri Secondary, Karingaini Village and adjacent customers.
Garissa county
In Garissa County, the entire Garissa Town area will be affected from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including the Provincial Headquarters, County Commissioner’s Office, Governor & County Government Offices, Garissa University, Modika Barracks, Garissa Water Offices and nearby customers.

Western region
Moving to the Western region, in Kisumu County the outage will hit Katito Town between 9:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., affecting sites like Nyakwete Centre, KEMFRI, Sangoro Police, Apondo Kasaye, Sondu Miriu and adjacent customers. Also in Kisumu, Chiga Market and surrounding villages (Land Matope Village, Masawa Village, Kasese Market, Kasarani Market & adjacent customers) will have an interruption scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Nyamira county
In Nyamira County (South Nyanza region), the outage covers Metamaywa and Tinderet from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., targeting areas such as Masige Farm, Tinderet, Metamaywa, Keginga, Makone Farm, Rigoko and their neighbours. The Mt Kenya region is also affected, with Archers Post and Wamba due for power cuts; customers at Maili Nane, Kisimani, Soi, Maili Saba, Maili Tano, Rangelands, Royal Acacia, Baraka Farm, Maili Tatu, Meru Woods, Mega Quarry, Kambi Garba, Mabatini, El Boran, Archers Post, Sarova Shamba, Kalama, Lengusaka, Lerata, Wamba Town, Swari, Lolokwe and adjacent customers stand to be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
According to KPLC, such planned power supply interruptions are necessary to enable maintenance work, upgrades of power lines and, in some cases, the extension of the network or connection of new customers.
