KCSE 2020: Overall performance summary in each grade
Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha on Monday released the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results in a record three weeks.
The CS had briefed President Uhuru Kenyatta of the results before getting a go-ahead to release them.
The results, CS Magoha said, were better compared to last year.
A total of 743, 299 candidates sat for 2020 KCSE results. 380,327 of them were males while 366,834 were females.
The top candidate was Robinson Wanjala from Murang’a High School.
In the overall grade summary for 2020 KCSE results, 893 candidates, representing 0.12 per cent, scored a mean grade of an A plain and above.
A total of 6420 candidates, 0.85 per cent, scored grade A- (minus). A total of 7313 candidates scored grade A- (minus) and above.
14,427 candidates, 1.92 per cent, scooped grade Grade B+ (plus) with 21,740 being the cumulative number of candidates who scored at least a grade B+.
A total of 25,207 candidates scored grade B (plain). 46,947 candidates scored at least a grade B plain and above.
At grade B- (minus), 38,194candidates managed it. 85,142 candidates scored at least a grade B- and above.
57,999 candidates score grade C+ (plus) representing 19.03 per cent. A cumulative 143,140 candidates had C+ and above, which is the minimum entry to the university,
85,458 candidates scored grade C (plain) in the exams representing 11.36 per cent. 228,598 candidates scored grade C and above.
109,454 candidates scored C- (minus) representing 14.55 per cent. 338,052 scored at least grade C-.
117,898 candidates scored grade D+ (plus) representing 15.67 per cent. The cumulative number of candidates who scored D+ and above is 455,950.
At grade D (plain), KNEC recorded 121,942 candidates representing 16.21 per cent. 577,892 candidates had grade D plain and above.
137,361 candidates scored grade D- (minus) and above representing 18.26 per cent. 715,253 scored at least grade D-.
280,046 candidates scored grade E representing 3.73 per cent.
A total of 287 candidates saw their exam results cancelled over irregularities.
