People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has lauded former President Uhuru Kenyatta after he cautioned Jubilee Party members against insulting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a statement posted on her socials on Friday, November 7, 2025, Karua, who also serves as the United Opposition convener, welcomed the move by the former president, cautioning party members against insulting the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua, terming it as good and necessary.

“Good and necessary move,” Karua said.

Uhuru’s fury

This came after an order from former President Uhuru Kenyatta during a meeting with Jubilee grassroots leaders in Murang’a at Thika Green Gardens on Friday, November 7, 2025. Warning party members from insulting Gachagua.

Uhuru expressed his frustration over how some members within the Jubilee Party have been insulting other leaders, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, while pointing fingers at the party’s Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni to stop the trend. He stated that he is usually saddened to see such behaviour.

He further warned that before he hands over the party, should any specific leaders continue with the trend, he will call them out and expel them from the party.

“At times I am saddened to see people on social media who pretend to defend the party by insulting Rigathi Gachagua and others. Sadly, most of them are party officials, and let me say this before I hand over this party: if they continue doing so, I will not hesitate to call them out and send them packing,” Uhuru said.

Gunjiri’s perspective

On the other hand, former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has vowed to continue with his criticism of Gachagua despite the warning from his party boss.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Friday, November 7, 2025, Ngunjiri Wambugu, who for the past few months after falling out with the former deputy president has never spared Rigathi Gachagua with every post he shares directed at his former friend, whom he once stood by during the impeachment saga, vowed to continue with his criticism.

“Bazuu amesema watu should not insult others. Especially if you are in Jubilee. Utatheca nja. That’s in order. On our part we will keep exposing Gachagua, without insults. As we have always done.” Wambugu said.
