Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has challenged the youngsters to take their stand in leadership, challenging them to be leaders guided by conviction.

Speaking at the Inter-party Cooperation Forum that brought together young Kenyans drawn from different formations of political parties on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Kalonzo stated that the young leaders have the enormous task of securing the country from the crop of leadership hell-bent on disenfranchising Kenyans through advancing their own selfish gains.

He sent a passionate reminder for the budding leaders to embody the brave spirit of the country’s young Gen Zs, who, armed with only a bottle, set out to liberate their country.

Play your role

“It’s good to aspire to be a leader, but you have to be led by conviction. You must have a sense of resolve and be guided by why you want to be a leader. Do not give up. You have to play your role strongly and fearlessly,” he stated.

“You will be riding on the shoulders of great men and women of this nation of Kenya, who set this leadership rolling. The reality of the Gen Z revolution is that you are the leaders of today—and this is a recognition of the fact that young Kenyans saying, “Don’t mess up our future any more,” decided to go to the streets,” he stated.

Appeal to older generation

“We must stand up; the time to stand up for the country is now, regardless of the political divide one belongs to,” he stated.

The former vice president also underscored the need for the older generation to help usher in the new crop of leadership.

“We need to make coalitions. We have leadership in tribal enclaves with leaders thinking it’s their time to eat. It has disenfranchised many Kenyans.

“My generation has a responsibility to put this country together in the spirit of constitutionalism and rule of law. We must at some stage enjoy the company of our children. We have work to do,” he stated.

The forum also brought together politicians drawn from different political divides.
