Kalonzo arrives in Kisumu ahead of Thursday’s visit to Raila’s Opoda farm
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has landed in Kisumu ahead of his visit to the late former Prime Minister’s Opoda Farm to condole with the family.
While speaking after landing at the lakeside city on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, together with a section of MPs allied to the Wiper Party, led by Matungulu MP Stephen Mutinda Mule, he announced that he will be heading to Opoda Farm to offer his condolences to Ida Odinga, the spouse of his long-time political ally, on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

He further stated that the late Raila Odinga was more than a brother and friend, adding that he honours his legacy as a patriot who gave everything for the country and its people.
“I’m here in Kisumu to see Mama Ida Odinga and family tomorrow at Opoda Farm. Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga was more than a political ally; he was a brother and a friend. We honour the legacy of a patriot who gave everything for his country and his people,” Kalonzo stated.
Kalonzo announcing Opoda farm visit
Kalonzo first announced his visit during the Ngema Fest in Murang’a, where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was present on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
He said that he will be leading a delegation to Opoda Farm, urging Murang’a and the entire Mount Kenya region to accompany him during his visit to Raila’s home.

Kalonzo stated that he is returning to Opoda Farm because President William Ruto can’t claim to be mourning the late Odinga more than he is or anyone else.
“Those of you who are able, let’s go to Opoda Farm on Thursday, in a style like no other. There is no way William Ruto and his ilk can pretend to mourn Raila Amollo Odinga; there is no way, absolutely no way. Those of you who feel you have a true inheritance in the 2010 constitution, let us all go to Bondo,” Kalonzo said.
The former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, has not come out to clarify if he will accompany Kalonzo to Bondo to pay his tribute.
Despite him being part of the meeting that saw Kalonzo first announce it, Gachagua’s silence on Raila’s death has been significant
