Kalonzo accuses Ruto’s govt of perpetuating corruption
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has launched a fresh and scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of leading Kenya into moral and political decay.
Quoting the Bible and drawing comparisons to global dictators, Kalonzo labelled Ruto as the new face of corruption and poor governance.
“The Bible, in the book of Proverbs 29:2, teaches us: ‘When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.’ Truth, honesty, and good leadership are not just political ideals – they are divine principles,” Kalonzo posted on his official X account on Sunday, July 13.
Kalonzo then went further, comparing Ruto to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who was once ranked the most corrupt leader in the world.
“Syria’s Bashar al-Assad was once ranked the most corrupt president in the world until the people rose and removed him. With Assad gone, William Ruto wears that crown of shame. Kenya deserves better.”

Kalonzo intensifies opposition campaign
This strong rebuke adds to a series of fiery statements made by Kalonzo in recent weeks, as he positions himself as the main opposition challenger in the 2027 General Election. Kalonzo has consistently criticised Ruto for misuse of state power, economic mismanagement, and violence against peaceful protesters.
During a recent burial in Murang’a County, on Friday, July 11, 2025, Kalonzo openly called for Ruto’s impeachment.
“There should be a brave Kenyan legislator who brings a motion of impeachment. If the president does not want to resign, he could be impeached; and if he survives that, there is a third option, to vote him out in 2027.”

The Wiper leader has insisted that he is the best candidate to defeat Ruto at the ballot, maintaining that unity among opposition parties will be key. Despite pressure to back other figures, Kalonzo has held firm.
“If I get the ticket, then Ruto will be a one-term president.”
Kalonzo has also rejected any suggestion of rejoining Raila Odinga or supporting President Ruto’s administration.
“People now think I can be persuaded by Raila to join Ruto. They should forget. I am standing my ground with the people.”
