Kakamega Homeboyz striker Moses Shumah clinched the 2024/25 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League Golden Boot award as the season concluded on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

The striker achieved the feat after registering 17 goals in the campaign as Homeboyz ended third in the standings to write his name in the history books of Kenya’s top-flight competition.

His tally saw him pip FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro, who scored 16, and Ryan Ogam of Tusker in a captivating race that was decided on the final rounds of fixtures.

The latter managed a 15-goal haul despite enduring an injury-ravaged season with the Brewers, which saw him miss a huge part of the league engagements.

Milestone for Homeboyz

Shumah, whose last league goal came in a 2-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks, managed to retain his lead at the helm of the scorer’s charts despite failing to net in three final league ties of the club.

Meanwhile, in another milestone for the club, Francis Baraza’s charges achieved their best-ever league finish position by virtue of their spot finish in the league behind champions Police FC and runners-up Gor Mahia.

The Kakamega-based club mustered a remarkable run of form in the second half of the season to become the most in-form team midway through the competition’s second half.

Relegated

At the foot of the table, Nairobi City Stars and FC Talanta were relegated following a tough campaign that saw both clubs struggle to find form.

The pair finished as the last two teams, thus dropping out of the FKF PL league for the 2025 season.

Meanwhile, Posta Rangers, who finished third from bottom in the Premier League, will battle Naivas FC, the third-placed team in the National Super League, in a high-stakes relegation/promotion playoff.

The winner will claim a coveted spot in next season’s top flight, completing the lineup for the coming season of teams to ply the top-flight league.

Reflecting on the concluded season, Homeboyz ace Brian Ambunya revelled in the team’s achievement for the season as he reserved praises for Shumah.

“As the 2024/2025 season comes to an end. It has been a season filled with memorable moments, and I sincerely thank everyone who made it possible.
