Here is what you need to know to keep up to speed with today’s happenings.

Ruto’s 1,000 days in office

Monday, June 9, 2025, marks 1,000 days since President William Ruto took office on 13th September 2022.

Everyone’s talking about whether he has delivered on his promises.

Kenyans will be kicking off a big review of the government’s wins and losses.

Albert Ojwang’s death

The death of Albert Ojwang’s is still a big deal, and people want answers about what happened. Was it natural, an accident, or something else?

We might hear some more updates or see activists pushing for the truth.

The story’s likely to be all over the news and public discussions as Kenyans demand clarity.

Kelvin Mohinde’s arrest

Kelvin Mohinde’s arrest is getting a lot of attention, but no one is quite sure why he was nabbed.

Some think it’s tied to political activism or something big.

People are already buzzing, asking for details, and some might call for his release or a proper investigation.

Budget week

This is budget week, and all eyes are on the 2025/26 national budget.

On Thursday, 12th June, National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi will present his first budget since being appointed.

But there’s trouble: a Sh253 billion revenue shortfall reported in April has left a massive gap, and the Finance Bill 2025 is only expected to raise Ksh25 – Ksh30 billion in new taxes.

With a Ksh876.1 billion deficit to tackle, Kenyans are worried about new taxes pushing up food and healthcare costs.
