Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho has expressed his deep sorrow following the death of Mama Sidi Karisa Katana, the mother of his colleague, Former Cabinet Secretary and Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa Katana.

In a statement posted on X on Monday, December 29, 2025, Joho described Mama Sidi as a woman of remarkable influence and strength whose life left a lasting impact on her family and community.

“It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to my sister Hon. Aisha Jumwa Katana and her entire family following the passing of their beloved matriarch, Mama Sidi Karisa Katana,” Joho said

Joho described Mama Sidi as a woman whose life was defined by devotion to her family and a strong sense of duty to those around her. He noted that her legacy of love, wisdom, and selflessness would continue to resonate among those who had the privilege of knowing her.

“Mama Sidi was a remarkable woman of great influence, strength and grace. She lived a life defined by unwavering devotion to her family and a deep sense of responsibility to her community. Her legacy of love, wisdom and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her,” he added.

In his statement, Joho prayed for comfort and strength for the family during this difficult time, calling on God to provide peace as they mourn.

“In this moment of immense loss, I pray that the Almighty God grants the family comfort, strength and peace to endure the pain of her passing,” Joho said.
