Materials distribution

”Delivery of election materials across all the 22 electoral areas with By-elections is ongoing. In Banisa, the materials that were airlifted from Nairobi have since arrived. This step marks a major advancement in our preparedness as the Commission moves to the final pre-polling activities,” IEBC took to X.

At the same time, IEBC has successfully concluded the training of Presiding Officers and their Deputies ahead of the by-elections. During the final session, all officers took an Oath of Secrecy, reaffirming their commitment to uphold integrity, impartiality and professionalism throughout the electoral process.

Following the top-gear preparedness, IEBC has assured the country of presiding over a fair and credible election.

”This reinforces our pledge to deliver a free, fair and credible election. As we enter the final stages of preparation, the team is now fully equipped to manage polling stations. The Commission remains committed to ensuring that every eligible voter exercises their democratic right,” IEBC said through an X statement on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

Voter bribery claims

Meanwhile, former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has raised concerns ahead of the mini polls in Mbeere North parliamentary by-election, accusing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of coordinating voter bribery, intimidation and attempts to interfere with the electoral process.

On an X post dated November 21, 2025, Muturi wrote to the IEBC calling for an investigation into voter bribery in the said constituency. “The schemes to corrupt the Mbeere North by-election are no longer rumours; they are orchestrated, financed and deployed. Importing goons, bribing voters, and plotting to intimidate citizens will not rewrite the will of the people.”

In a letter addressed to IEBC Chairman Erastus Edung Ethekon, Muturi protested what he termed as “planned use of armed goons from Nairobi and Thika, among other areas, in favour of the UDA candidate, with involvement of National Government Administration officers under the escort and command of National Police Service in civilian clothes.”

Both the government and opposition sides have fielded candidates in different elective positions nationwide.
