The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced progress in the recruitment process for temporary staff under the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise. The process is part of the Commission’s preparations aimed at strengthening voter registration services across the country ahead of upcoming electoral activities.

Many Kenyans had applied for temporary positions, hoping to participate in the national voter registration exercise while also gaining short-term employment. The Commission confirmed that the recruitment process has moved to the next stage after reviewing the submitted applications.

In a statement shared on X on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the electoral body informed applicants that those who met the requirements have already been contacted and invited to proceed with the next steps of the recruitment process.

“Kindly note that for those who applied for the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) temporary jobs, the Commission has shortlisted candidates and communicated to the shortlisted persons,” the statement reads.

The Commission explained that the selection process is continuing as interviews are currently being conducted to determine the final group of successful candidates who will participate in the voter registration exercise.

“Interviews are currently ongoing. The Commission will communicate with the successful candidates and inform them when the training will begin,” the statement reads.

The IEBC emphasised that the recruitment exercise is part of its broader efforts to ensure the voter registration process is conducted efficiently and transparently. Temporary staff recruited through the ECVR programme play a critical role in helping the Commission register new voters, update voter details, and expand access to registration services across the country.

IEBC say the exercise also helps bring services closer to citizens, especially those living in remote areas who may not easily access registration centres. By deploying trained temporary staff, the Commission goal is to strengthen registration teams’ capacity and ensure that eligible citizens can register without delay.

Once the interview process is complete, successful candidates will be invited to training before being deployed to support the voter registration exercise in different regions of the country. The training will equip them with the skills needed to handle registration equipment, manage voter data accurately, and assist citizens during the process.
