ICT CS Kabogo launches Google Gemini Pro Plan for students
The Cabinet Secretary for ICT, William Kabogo, has called on Kenyan youth to take full advantage of emerging technologies to transform learning and drive innovation.
Speaking during the launch of the Google Gemini Pro Plan for Kenyan universities and college students in Nairobi on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Kabogo said the government remains committed to empowering the next generation with digital skills and knowledge needed to compete in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
“The Government remains committed to empowering our talented youth to harness emerging technologies for enhanced learning, supporting innovation and preparing a tech-savvy workforce,” his statement reads.

Kabogo described Artificial Intelligence (AI) as one of the most transformative tools shaping the modern world, saying it is already redefining how people learn, work, and communicate.
“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an essential part of life by reshaping interactions and work processes,” he said, noting that the technology has already proven transformative in the education sector.
He added that AI is making learning more accessible and effective by enabling personalised learning, supporting virtual learning, and improving administrative efficiency in institutions.
Kabogo said the newly launched Google Gemini Pro Plan would help equip students with essential AI skills to better prepare them for future employment.

“Gemini Google aims to equip the next generation with foundational AI skills to enable them to thrive in studies and prepare for the future workforce,” he stated.
He emphasised that embracing such programs would help enhance digital skills, integrate AI into learning, and build an adaptable and innovative workforce ready for the demands of the future.
“This will be imperative in enhancing digital skills, integrating AI in learning and empowering an agile future workforce,” his statement reads.

Kabogo also stressed the importance of responsible technology use, saying, “The government encourages ethical use of AI and partnering across the board for advancing the digital transformation agenda.”
The event brought together key education and technology leaders, including Google’s Benson Kinoti, Michael Murungi, David Watene, Moses Thiga, and representatives from several universities and colleges across the country.
