Kenya is seeking to deepen its digital partnerships with Romania in a move aimed at strengthening cybersecurity, promoting innovation, and creating more opportunities in the growing digital economy.

Speaking at the Romania–Kenya IT & Cybersecurity Business Forum in Bucharest, held alongside the Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference 2025 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Information and Communication Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo said the collaboration marks a new phase in Kenya’s digital growth story.

Kabogo said Kenya’s Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy agenda is connecting homes, schools, and businesses across the country while positioning Kenya as a regional hub for technology, e-government, and digital trade. He noted that the country’s bold approach to digital transformation is already attracting global attention and investment.

“I underscored Kenya’s bold digital transformation agenda under the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy, which is connecting homes, schools, and enterprises across the country and positioning Kenya as a regional hub for innovation, e-government and digital trade,” Kabogo said.

He added that Kenya is steadily moving towards a paperless government by 2030, a vision that will rely heavily on technology and trusted digital systems. To achieve this, Kabogo said the country continues to attract investments in data centres, cloud services, artificial intelligence, fintech, and cybersecurity, all of which are vital to supporting Kenya’s growing digital economy.

“As we advance towards a paperless government by 2030, we continue to attract investments in data centres, cloud services and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, fintech, and cybersecurity,” he said.

Kabogo described Romania as a natural partner in this journey, praising the European nation for its world-class expertise in software engineering, cybersecurity, and digital innovation. He said these strengths make Romania a valuable ally in building technologies that not only protect Kenya’s cyberspace but also create new jobs and opportunities for the youth.

“Romania stands out as a natural partner in this journey with world-class expertise in software engineering, cybersecurity and digital innovation,” Kabogo noted.

Kabogo concluded by urging Romanian companies to invest, co-innovate, and partner with Kenya in strengthening digital resilience and building sustainable collaborations that deepen Africa–Europe relations.

“Together, we can build trusted digital economies that open new frontiers of opportunity for our people,” he said.
