Gachagua to lead DCP ‘thank you’ tour in Ol Kalou after by-election victory
Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua is set to lead a ‘thank-you’ tour of Ol Kalou Constituency on Friday, July 17, following the party’s victory in the parliamentary by-election.
According to a programme released by the party on Friday, July 17, 2026, the tour will feature Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, and newly elected Ol Kalou MP Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru, who won the seat on the DCP ticket.

The leaders are expected to meet residents at five stopovers across the constituency to thank voters for their support during the hotly contested by-election.
The tour will begin at Ndundori Gwa Kiongo at 11:00 a.m., before proceeding to Ngorika at noon, Tumaini at 1:00 p.m., Ol Kalou Town at 2:00 p.m., and conclude at Miharati Town at 3:00 p.m.
Branded as the “Thank You Tour,” the event comes a day after DCP’s victory in the Ol Kalou by-election, which the party has described as a major political milestone.
The by-election attracted national attention, with top leaders from both the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the opposition-backed DCP camping in the constituency in the final days of campaigning.
Gachagua congratulates Kamau

In a statement on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Gachagua congratulated Kamau and thanked voters for handing the party its first seat in the National Assembly.
“Congratulations, Hon. Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru, on your historic election as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency. You have won by a resounding margin, reflecting the unmistakable voice of the people,” Gachagua said.
The former deputy president described the outcome as a significant achievement for the opposition outfit, which he leads, saying it marked the party’s entry into Parliament.
“To the great people of Ol Kalou, thank you for giving our party, DCP, its first Member of the National Assembly,” he said.
Gachagua also commended voters for what he described as resisting attempts to influence the outcome of the poll.
“Thank you, my great people, for refusing to sell your birthright and for being wise enough not to fall for the deception of development projects,” he said.
