‘I fought for this govt, there is no way I can move even an inch’ – Gachagua
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made it clear that any efforts to exclude him from the Kenya Kwanza government will be thwarted.
Speaking during the burial ceremony of former NACADA CEO, Victor Okioma in Trans Nzoia County, the DP, without mentioning names, opined that he fought to be in the Kenya Kwanza government and as such nothing will make him move even an inch, despite opposition members joining the government.
Gachagua, however, indicated that he was fully supporting and welcoming the newcomers to work with them for the good of the country.
“Hii serikali si nlipigania, there is no way I can move even an inch, kwa hii serikali mimi ndio mwenyewe niko ndani ata kukija kabila gani mimi ni chungwa ya zamani niko ndani i’m inside, hakuna nafasi ya kusonga ata inch moja, wale rais ameleta tumewakaribisha tufanye kazi pamoja, one country and the coming of the people who have come cannot displace those who were there and if there was an attempt and there isn’t it cannot work because mwenye kukaa pale Riggy G ni chuma.
“Sisi tunataka wakenya waungane wale wametoka ODM tunawakaribisha because this is our country tunasonga pamoja,” he said.
Gachagua also emphasised that he will continue his push for unity in the Mount Kenya region despite critics trying to discourage his efforts.
“I want to say all politics is local, I don’t understand the criteria, because Governor Natembeya usually calls for unity among the Luhya community but I have yet to see a person coming out to declare him a tribalist, but when I call for Mt Kenya unity, it becomes a problem,” the DP said.
“You cannot unite the country when communities are divided; when regions are divided; you first put your region together then you reach out to other regions then we have one cohesive country.”
