Democracy for Citizens’ Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua has expressed delight with the burgeoning number of young people actively engaging in leadership roles.

In a statement on his X page on Monday, September 22, 2025, Gachagua noted that many young people were stepping forward to take charge of the country’s leadership.

Gachagua made the remarks during a consultative meeting with a section of DCP aspirants and interim officials from Embu County, led by Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji.

“I am truly encouraged by the enthusiasm and determination of young people who are stepping forward to take charge of the country’s leadership through direct representation,” he stated.

In addition, the second deputy president warned that Kenya risked losing its future if it failed to invest in young people.

The former DP vowed to build his Skiza Wakenya party on that foundation, stressing that they would enhance their presence at the grassroots to better resonate with the needs and aspirations of the people.

“We resolved to continue strengthening our party at the grassroots level, ensuring that our roots remain strong and our message resonates across the country with the people, as espoused through our philosophy.

He also reiterated his commitment to an all-encompassing party.

“Our Party, DCP, remains steadfast in its mission to build an inclusive and progressive political movement,” he added.

His remarks come a day after Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo challenged the youth to register as voters and act as the custodians of votes that will be cast during the 2027 elections.

Speaking in Ukambani on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Maanzo stressed that the youthful generation will play a crucial role in ensuring election credibility through keeping vigil.

“I want to appeal to the youth to register as voters for those who are of age so that in 2027, we make one-term possible,”he stated.

“After the presiding officer and his deputy, the clerks number one to number 6 will be the Gen Zs. You will keep guard of our votes, so we ask you to register as voters. This is your country, and we know the votes cannot be stolen with you keeping watch,” he stated.

During his tour of the USA, the politician spoke on the pivotal role the youth of Kenya could play in ushering a new dawn in the country. He implored the Gen Zs to initiate the removal of President William Ruto from power through the ballot.
