Maanzo: Gen Zs will be the custodians of votes in next elections
Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo has urged the youth to register as voters and act as the custodians of votes that will be cast during the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Ukambani on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Maanzo stressed that the youthful generation will play a crucial role in ensuring election credibility through keeping vigil.
“I want to appeal to the youth to register as voters for those who are of age so that in 2027, we make one-term possible,”he stated.
“After the presiding officer and his deputy, the clerks number one to number 6 will be the Gen Zs. You will keep guard of our votes, so we ask you to register as voters. This is your country, and we know the votes cannot be stolen with you keeping watch,” he stated.
The attorney fingered the Kenya Kwanza administration for failing to live up to its campaign pledges, citing its role in ruining the education sector.
“Kenya has been run down and depleted. They said they would put money in our pockets, but there is none. They have also ruined our education, and we are now funding our children to get a university education,” he stated.

His sentiments come as his Ukambani allied MP, Gideon Mulyungi, predicted the opposition would win the next presidential polls.
Speaking at the same event, the Mwingi Central MP stressed that no candidate has ever received the backing of the mountain and failed to clinch the presidency.
Mulyungi predicts 2027 polls
Mulyungi premised his assertion on the newfound alliance between the Kamba community and Mt Kenya politicians, famously known as the cousins.
“I want to tell you to start getting used to your president. Get to know him because it will be one of them,” he stated.
“For the first time, the Kamba community has united with Mt Kenya. If you go back in history, no president has risen to the country’s leadership without the support of Mt Kenya. It is why I am saying get used to your new president,” he posited.
