The dissolution of the moribund National Super Alliance (Nasa) is still far from over despite Amani National Congress (ANC) party and its parliamentary group endorsing the move to pull out of the alliance.

This even as some ANC leaders vowed its leader Musalia Mudavadi name must be on the ballot in the next election.

Nasa agreement states that if any three of the affiliate parties write to the Registrar of Political Parties to pull out of the alliance, it will stand dissolved.

With Ford Kenya’s fate still in limbo, the fate of Nasa’s dissolution lies with Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) supremo Isaac Ruto who has since decided to support Deputy President William Ruto who will fly the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential ticket.

While ANC and Wiper will be making good their threat to leave the moribund outfit, Ford Kenya is still stuck, thanks to the leadership wrangles pitting one faction led by party leader Moses Wetang’ula and his ally turned foe secretary general Eseli Simiyu.

Simiyu told People Daily that the Court gave a conservatory order for the status quo to remain.

This means that Simiyu continues being the SG while Wetang’ula remains the party boss.

However, the party’s NEC, which had recommended that Wetang’ula should cease being the party leader, has not met to ratify the intention of leaving Nasa.

“The decision of leaving Nasa is supposed to be ratified by the NEC and endorsed by the General Council.

NEC is the one that removed him from the party and is only serving courtesy of the conservatory orders. Unless NEC meets and makes such decision, Ford Kenya cannot pull out of Nasa just yet,” said Simiyu.

ANC party’s parliamentary group endorsed the move to pull out of Nasa after its National Council resolved that ANC should proceed with its intention to leave the alliance.

ANC Deputy party leader Ayub Savula (Lugari) said they had resolved to pull out of the coalition and will be writing to the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu about its resolution.

“We met as ANC PG and resolved to leave NASA. As far as we are concerned, the only thing remaining is to write to the Registrar of Political Parties. Mudavadi must be on the ballot and not in NASA,” said Savula.

His sentiments were echoed by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malalah saying that that moving forward, their presidential candidate is Mudavadi and will not budge to support anyone if not their candidate.
