Kenya Met predicts rainfall in section of areas within 20 counties in next 5 days

The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has asked residents living in 20 counties found in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley to prepare for rainfall in the next five days.

According to the weather advisory from Saturday October 12, 2024 to Wednesday October 16, 2024, rainfall is expected in the morning, afternoon and evening over a few places.

The listed counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo-Marakwet.

Others are Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot counties.

In the comprehensive 5-day forecast report, the weatherman indicated that the rainfall would be accompanied by thunderstorms over a few places.

However, maximum temperatures will hit 30 degrees celcius while minimum will be 10 degrees celcius.

Nairobi and its environs

The forecast report indicates that chances of rainfall in Nairobi and other counties within the Highlands East of the Rift Valley are minimal. Rainfall is expected at night only over a few places.

Kenya Met explains that the weather will be characterised by cloudy conditions before breaking into sunny intervals in most parts of the day for the next five days.

Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi county are among the areas listed by the Kenya Met that share similar weather pattern as Nairobi.

Coastal region

Unlike the previous week, the weatherman has advised the coastal residennce to prepare for rainfall.

According to the forecast, showers are expected over a few places in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Despite chances of rainfall, temperatures are expected to be relatively high.
