2027 in sight: Salasya fires up presidential ambition with message to voters in

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has sent a strong message to his constituents and the country as he announces his intention to run for president in the 2027 general election.
In a statement shared on his X account on Saturday, June 28, Salasya asked for the blessing of the people of Mumias East as he prepares to take his campaign to the national level. He said he had listened to the voices of his supporters and assured them of his commitment to serve. He described himself as a real leader—flawed, but honest and grounded in the struggles of ordinary Kenyans.
Salasya reminded the public of his background, saying he comes from the soil of Eluche, Kisumu Ndogo Junction, not from powerful families or boardrooms. He said his journey to leadership began with the people and for the people.
“To my fellow Kenyan and son or daughter of Mumias East, I have heard your concerns. I have read your words. You speak with emotion, and I respond with respect. Because I am not a perfect man, but I am a real one.” He said.
Addressing criticism of his public conduct, he said he speaks loudly and walks among the people because he reflects their reality. He dismissed claims that his style is improper, saying it disrupts a system that has long been silent in the face of looting and injustice.
“Yes, I speak loudly. I walk among the ordinary. I don’t fake perfection; I reflect reality. If my style disturbs the old guard, good. That’s the point. This country needs disruption, not more silence, not more suits smiling as they loot.” He stated.
He also spoke on the marijuana accusations, denying any involvement and blaming it on false narratives meant to distract the public. He said while he may have human faults, he has remained true in his role as a servant of the people.
“Let me say it plainly: I do not promote or abuse marijuana. What you saw online was a twisted narrative meant to distract. But even if I have ever faltered as a human being, I have never failed as a servant of the people. I don’t steal from schools. I don’t misuse public funds. I face my people. ‘My flaws are public, but so is my honesty,’ he added.
His track record
On development, Salasya listed projects in Makunga, Shianda, Eluche, and Kisumu Ndogo, including clean bursary allocations, improved roads, electricity connections, new desks, classrooms, and overall school support. He stated that all funds have been used properly and welcomed any audit.

To other presidential hopefuls, Salasya said everyone has a right to campaign, and the people will decide. He made it clear that he will campaign on his record, not lies.
He also addressed the possibility of losing, saying that if his leadership ends in 2027, he will leave with honour, not shame. Until then, he vowed to keep working boldly and without fear.

To the Wanga Nation, Salasya said this is not the end of their pride but the start of revival. He called on his people to stand firm, invoking the spirit of Nabongo leadership rooted in action, not words. He urged them not to be ashamed for supporting one of their own.
Salasya ended his message with a call to complete what they started and go further in 2027, saying the journey from Kisumu Ndogo to the nation continues.
